Frank McKinney, known as the real estate “artist,” has built a 15,000-square-foot “eco-mansion.” Is that possible? I am not sure whether to look in awe at all the sleek green that money can buy, or to recoil from the notion that 15,000 feet of excess is environmentally friendly.
Inspired by trips to Bali, Fiji, Tahiti and Hawaii, the three-story, 15,000-square-foot, 7-bedroom, 11-bath mansion features floating sun terraces, a waterfall spa with a fire feature in the water and an arched aquarium wet bar.
Green features inside the one-off mansion include enough solar panels to cover a basketball court generating enough energy for two or three average-size homes.
A water system that collects enough run-off water to fill the average swimming pool every 14 days and environmentally conscious lighting reduces electricity consumption by 70 per cent.

To make the cottage feel bigger without actually having to add to it, the designer got rid of the attic, which allowed 6 feet more of vertical space and exposed vaulted ceilings. They also exposed the wooden beams on the first floor to add some more room and a touch of the old farmhouse it once was.
This neutral foyer is decorated with a large seagrass basket tucked under a wood sawhorse table, topped with glass lamp, framed sea fan and natural plants.
The interior designer brightened the walls with white paint from Benjamin Moore and used a calming pale green, almost gray, on the floors.
This super cute retro kitchen features vaulted ceiling, black vintage barn pendants, turquoise bistro barstools and a kitchen chalkboard. The white shaker kitchen cabinets are paired with white marble countertops, white subway tiled backsplash and an adorable blue Smeg Refrigerator.
Is this space a step forward your comfort zone? It was for the designer as well, but she wanted to have fun while designing this dining nook. Here, she combined Tolix metal chairs, vintage lantern and a modern Knoll table with a jute rug that gives a beach feeling. Very unique!
This bedroom is all about calmness. The white master bedroom features plank walls and an elegant yet modern iron canopy bed. The bed is an Anthropologie Italian Campaign Canopy Bed.
Who wouldn’t love to have this bedroom as a child? This girl’s nursery features whitewashed planked ceiling and walls as well as a white ladder leading to play loft situated over a white crib next to a play teepee.
This is my kind of garden! I love this classic look with hedges and blue hydrangeas among the mature landscaping.
This bedroom is for teens who are forced to share a bedroom, or maybe a perfect room for sleepovers. The beds make it comfortable for anyone to spend the night and the desk next to the bed is the perfect area for studying .
Cozy and chill the bedroom is decorated with extremely unique and profound taste. In shared rooms, bunk beds aren’t always the answer. Separating these beds allows each to have its own storage unit.
The area rug not only provides the color palette for the room, but it also provides a natural diving line. Each bed features linens and accent pillows in colors inspired by the rug.
This bedroom strives to bring the creative flow to the surface. It has a beige bed that looks more like a couch with lots of soft pillows. This bed has the advantage that during the day can be used as a couch and during the night you can use it as a bed.
The study space from here is next to he window so that you can have more natural light during the day. It’s a small desck with modern shelves that look like a pair of stairs and with a classic shelf above the computer.
The room is very cozy but in a modern style. It’s not very large but provides an personal space. What gives color to this room is the carpet that has multiple colors. This room has even a place for gymnastics and a lot of art.
The wardrobe has an artistic draught that looks like it was sketched with the pencil. The cozy chairs in square shape that are next to the table give a symmmetric look. Another cozy chair is the one from the desck that provides comfort and relaxation while the teenager makes his homeworks or is playing on the computer.
A teenager’s room should be more than a place they can retreat when they don’t want to talk to their parents. It should be a reflection of their personality and a space where they can feel comfortable, safe, and inspired.
The rooms in this post are particularly creative in their use of color and other design elements, ultimately creating vibrant spaces where even the most finicky and fickle teenagers would love to hole up. While not all the spaces are bedrooms, they would all be ideal rooms for teens to call their own.
The bedroom uses contrasting colors to bring an exciting energy to the bedroom. The black and yellow contrast is immediately eye popping and mood elevating.
The study area and sofa make this an ideal office for a creative teen, giving plenty of space to relax but also space to focus.
Designed and arranged very much in the style of South American luxury this Peruvian villa located in the bay resort of Ancon – a neighborhood of Lima – is actually originally designed in 1958 by the Swiss architect Theodor Cron, whose architectural style has strong influence on modern Peruvian architecture.
In the case of this beautiful villa; being in the family for three generations – from their grandfather’s time – and having artistic, historical and architectural value, the architects from Adrián Noboa Arquitecto charged with its renovation and expansion project, were consciously and carefully using the original plans of the villa as a departing point.
The furnishing throughout the house is contemporary, functional and in a way minimalistic. The long wooden tables, the white surfaces and the ostentatious design of the soft – sitting combined create very comfortable and inviting ambiance.
The language of the architectural composition is enhanced by using natural local stone in cladding, the beautiful wooden elements and the preservation and introduction into the design of the surrounding natural plant life. The beautiful panoramic views were the other goal for the renovation of the property, and it was worth it, we may say.
Inspired by the beautiful Bahamas and offering panoramic views of Sydney Harbour this villa is perfect for a large family looking for a beach holiday near the CBD. Minutes walking distance from a secluded harbour beach and iconic restaurants – Watsons Bay Hotel and Doyles, local shops plus a regular ferry service to Manly and the CBD and 10 minutes drive to the famous Bondi Beach.
The home offers impeccable style, decorated by leading Australian interior designer Marco Meneguzzi and has been featured in decorating magazines and lifestyle books. It is a chic beach house without compromising on comfort and amenities.
Enjoy sunset drinks on the terrace, where you can hear the waves gently lapping or an alfresco lunch under plantation fans. The blue and white themed living room also looks out to water views and the tropical courtyard lined with bougainvillea and frangipani trees. It is a secure and private retreat.

This beautiful contemporary seaside villa is located in Netanya, Israel and is designed with verve, for a family of five. The architects from Blatman-Cohen Architects had successfully blurred the borders between exterior and interior – one of the distinctive requirements of a modern architectural project – and had left the leading role for the composition of the home’s atmosphere to the surrounding landscape.
Beautiful local trees surround the unostentatious and naturally looking swimming pool, the continuity of floor and ceiling cladding between terraces and indoors transfuses into the soft green of the yards, and of course the natural material palette used in the construction creates a home where the warmth of the earth meets the modern functionality.
On the first floor, in the vast open – space living premise (which unites dining area, kitchen and living room) the designers combined the warmth of traditional textiles and rugs with the functionality of modern furniture and fittings. And this combination like the alternation of warm wooden cladding and the shining surfaces of glass and metal structures creates one ambiguous and intriguing ambiance. Thin black metal frames the interior, replicated in windows, a steel staircase, lamps, chairs, bookshelf structures – and it brings elegance and delicate finishing to it all.
Basically the materials composing the project are refined and rich spectrum; basalt slabs and dark stone, black steel and cedar panels, gray concrete and gorgeous wooden cladding – all combined to the end of one dynamic yet warm atmosphere.
