Fleur de Lys, located at 350 Carolwood Dr., Los Angeles, CA 90077, was completed in 2002, but Saperstein soon divorced her Metro Networks husband, David Saperstein, prompting her in 2007 to first list the over-the-top property, which sits in between the Holmby Hills, Bel-Air and Beverly Hills area called the Platinum Triangle.
The home was styled after the Vaux-le-Vicomte palace on the outskirts of Paris, and it took its place among the most outrageous custom-built properties in America, right up there with the famed 90,000-square-foot Versailles mansion that was the star of the documentary “The Queen of Versailles.”
Fleur de Lys may have taken years to sell, but it certainly got its fair share of publicity and interest over the years. At one point in 2009, singer Mariah Carey and her husband, Nick Cannon, were said to be trying to work out a purchase. The estate has also been used for film shoots for TV commercials, shows and movies, including “The Green Hornet.”
The home is set back off the road by a long driveway behind iron gates and reverberates with Old World grandeur. There are 12 bedrooms, 15 bathrooms, gold-embossed leather wall coverings, gold-leaf crown moldings, a ballroom, two kitchens and a 50-seat screening room. No amenity was left off the punch list. There’s also a pool house with kitchen, massage room, gym, three-bed manager’s house, staff quarters and a nine-car garage.
According to the Los Angeles Times, it is the highest-priced home sale in Los Angeles County. If the buyer is Milken, he beat out three other billionaires who engaged in a bidding war once the $125 million price threshold was tossed aside in favor of anything “reasonable” to get the estate sold.

Taking architectural chances is not uncommon in the homes we feature on this site, but this spacious house on Oak Pass in Beverly Hills is perhaps one of the most creative – and most beautiful.Aside from its stark and stylish modern choices, the house is built with an upside down program.
Instead of ascending to the houses’ private spaces, bedrooms are hidden in the hillside and covered with a roof that grows edible herbs. This Walker Workshop home may not be the Beverly Hills opulence that you would expect, but it has its own brand of spectacular.
The house is situated on 3.5 acres, overlooking Oak Pass. The house itself measures 8000 square feet (743 square meters), though its hidden design makes it appear smaller.
The property is home to more than 130 oak trees, which were an integral part of designing the home. Not only did the architect and homeowners want a space that could easily look out upon this spectacular private forest, but they wanted an exterior that itself did not draw attention away from the beautiful natural surroundings.
For instance, an infinity pool on the ground level rests just underneath a large oak. Perhaps not the perfect design for the pool filter, the aesthetics are truly amazing. A dip in this pool is a luxurious version of a backhills swimming hole, complete with modern concrete deck and stylish deck chairs
The epitome of luxury! Updown Court is situated only 25 miles from London, and through a pair of large sophisticated iron gates, one can see a palatial construction of immense scale and beauty.
Updown Court, a newly built mansion for sale outside of London, offers plenty of lavish amenities: five swimming pools, an eight-limousine garage, and mosaic floor made of 24-karat gold leaf in the downstairs study.
The property, however, is best known for its price tag: more than 85 million British pounds (+$150 million USD).
If Updown Court fetches that price, it would make the 40,000-square-foot dwelling and its property the most expensive home ever sold, according to real estate agents.
The target owner, according to developer Leslie Allen-Vercoe, is a superrich international buyer looking for a second, third, or fourth home in London. “The house has been designed for a specific market, which is the billionaire market, as opposed to the millionaire market,” he says.
The main house consists of four floors; each with its own magnificence. There are also two guest houses which consist of nine bedroom/bathroom suites in total, a security lodge located next to the main house, as well as an underground garage with enough space for a small collection of luxury cars. On a heated marble driveway, one can take a ride up to the house, where a creation with 22 bedrooms awaits you.
There are a total of five swimming pools; two are located in closed areas of the landscaped gardens, and the third outside pool is an infinity pool located on the roof, with spectacular views across the countryside. There are a further two indoor pools, one reached by its own private lift, which also has its own sauna, a beauty salon and dressing room.
There are the two lane bowling alley and the snooker room, but it’s the 50-seat cinema with a private bar that truly offers guests the best relaxation and entertainment.
Larger in area than both the royal residences of Hampton Court Palace or Buckingham Palace, this magnificent estate symbolises the grand and imposing presence of the Great Houses of England. This property really has to be seen to be believed!
This is a spatial design for a Karaoke club located at the newly opened food & entertainment hub “OCT Bay” in Shenzhen, China. Karaoke or KTV, originated from Japan in 1980’s, is now a dominant form of entertainment in China. However, possibility of redefining the experience of “karaoke singing” is not fully explored. The design strategy of “Music & Art Jamming” is adopted to create new values for this new entertainment establishment by bringing Music & Art activities together.
Super-imposition & eclectic mix of various Eastern & Western cultural motifs were used to bring sense of imagination / surprise / fun to the customers when they travel along the whole entertainment space. Contrasting styles of Furniture / Lighting / Color / Material / Details were strategically selected to serve functional & aesthetic needs.
Entrance Lobby & Reception Area at 2 different floors, connected through an elegant white spiral staircase, serve as multi-use space which include the functions of waiting area / live performance stage for art promotion events. Customers greeted by super-sized Terracotta Warriors & Human Sculptures will be immersed in the rhythmic gallery-like environment showcasing traditional and contemporary art objects by local artists.
VIP Rooms in intense red & brown colour palettes were catered for mature & young customers respectively. Both decorated in tasteful manners to give vividness yet a home feeling. Ornated chandelier & wall lamp provided atmospheric light & shadow qualities to these private party areas.
Understanding that there are customers who are inherently shy and those who take the karaoke experience as a way of art performance & appreciation they would not have elsewhere, the ParkView Club creates environment that is appealing to elite type of karaoke patrons and provides an environment with cross-programming where people can shed their hesitations and relax.

One of Cheshire’s leading names in the bar and pub industry, New Moon Company, has teamed up with Warrington based DV8 Designs to transform The Old Blind School in Liverpool into a contemporary gastro-pub. The eatery and bar has recently opened its doors to the public following an impressive creative overhaul carried out by MD of DV8 Designs Lee Birchall and his specialist team of interior designers.
Built between 1851 and 1931, the venue once acted as the city’s School for the Blind until the organisation moved outside of the city centre in the 1950s. It then served as the Merseyside Police headquarters, the Merseyside Trade Union, Community and Unemployed Resource Centre and also the Flying Picket music venue, before closing its doors in 2004.
Lee said: “Having worked with New Moon Company numerous times before, it’s great to continue the longevity of our partnership and be a part of such innovative projects.
“As an iconic building, it was important that the venue remained true to its roots in many ways, therefore we kept many of the building’s original architectural elements, while adding a contemporary flair to the design and completely bringing it back to life.
“In order to perfectly counterbalance both heritage and current trends, we’ve added many ultra-modern decors, including visually exciting art installations and exaggerated furnishings to the restaurant floor. We also carried out an overhaul of the bar and 70-seat terrace area in line with the playful interior design throughout the property. The overall aim was to create a look that perfectly mirrors the venue’s laid-back ethos and relaxed atmosphere and capture its quirky vibe.”
As part of the renovation, the impressive venue’s restaurant floor and bar area have been completely redesigned to offer a ‘stripped-back rustic edge’, likewise a state-of-the-art open kitchen and bar area have also been installed. The Old Blind School is New Moon Company’s seventh venture. The Grade II listed building, located on Hardman Street, boasts two floors and a capacity of 280. In true gastro-pub style, the venue serves a range of classic British dishes including mature beef burgers, smoked haddock fillets and squash and chestnut crumble, alongside an extensive and impressive beer and cocktail menu.
Dave Mooney Owner of The New Moon Company added: “We love working with DV8 Designs, as Lee and the team really understand our unique visions and are able to bring our ideas to life while offering their forward-thinking creative direction. “As our first Liverpool establishment, we hope to receive a great response from the public due to our speciality gastro dishes, extensive drinks list and imaginative design.”
